Mayfield, KY - Mid-Continent University has signed community college transfer, Anthony Lipscomb from Cape Fear Community College (N.C.) to a NAIA Letter of Intent to play men's basketball beginning with the 2009-10 school year. Lipscomb joins 12 returning letterwinners and two other community college transfers on Winston Bennett's MCU squad which will try to improve on a 15-15 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the TransSouth Athletics Conference race (10-6).
Lipscomb, a 6-6, 215 lb. junior forward, resides in Hope Mills, North Carolina and graduated from Laurinburg Institute. He totaled 628 points, 461 rebounds, 113 assists, and 77 steals in 66 career games at Cape Fear Community College. As a freshman in 2006-07, he averaged 11.8 points and 7.8 rebounds with 39 three-point field goals, 59 assists, and 47 steals, and as a sophomore last season (2008-09), he averaged 6.9 points and 6.1 rebounds with 25 three-pointers, 54 assists, 30 steals, and 37 blocked shots.
