Mayfield, KY - Mid-Continent University baseball coach Shawn Yarbrough has signed outfielder-utility player Michael Edwards and right-handed pitcher Jesse Turner, both from Lone Oak High School (Ky.), to NAIA Letters of Intent to attend MCU, beginning with the 2010-11 academic year and play for the Cougars beginning in 2011.

Both players currently are completing their senior years and will play baseball for Coach Geno Miller in the spring of 2010 before coming to MCU in the fall. Edwards, 6-0, 160 pounds, is the brother of former LOHS star and current MCU shortstop Daniel Edwards, and Turner, 5-10, 220 pounds, also played third base for Lone Oak.

Both players were members of Lone Oak's Second District championship team in 2009, along with future MCU infielder Drew Harrison, who signed his Letter of Intent in January and current MCU players Daniel Edwards and Allen Haase.

Yarbrough comments, "MCU is extremely excited to have both Michael (Edwards) and Jesse (Turner) on board with our program. Both players are outstanding young men and provide a solid foundation for our new junior varsity baseball program."
