Chuck Beaven signs NAIA Letter of Intent with MCU, Feb. 24
Mayfield, KY - Mid-Continent University head baseball coach Shawn Yarbrough has signed a pair of multiple-position players from Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky. On Wednesday, Feb. 24, Chuck Beaven (pictured on right) and Nolan Reynolds (pictured below) signed NAIA Letters of Intent to play for the Cougars beginning with the 2011 season. Beaven is the son of Mrs. Eva Williams of Morganfield, and Reynolds is the son of Chris Reynolds and Mary Daffron of Union County.
 
Nolan Reynolds Signs with MCU    Beaven, 6-3, 190, and Reynolds, 5-9, 140, will play their senior seasons of baseball beginning in March and plan to graduate in June, 2010, before coming to MCU as a freshman in August. A corner infielder, outfielder and right-handed pitcher, Beaven is a four-year varsity player and was the team Most Valuable Player and Pitching Award winner as a junior in 2009 when he compiled a 3.34 ERA and hit .333. A middle infielder and centerfielder, Reynolds hit .320 and won the Jolly Rancher Hustle Award and is a three-year varsity player.
 
     Both players plan to play summer ball for the American Legion Post 236 Tri-County Titans squad.
 
     Yarbrough comments, "Both Chuck and Nolan are great kids and will be assets to our junior varsity program at first. Both are equipped with skill sets to help our varsity program in future years."
