Fraliex, the son of Earl and Helen Fraliex of Fredonia, Kentucky, transfers to MCU from Murray State University with three years of eligibility remaining.
Fraliex, a 6-4, 185-pound shooting guard, is a 2007 graduate of Caldwell County High School and redshirted in 2007-08 at Murray State. Heavily recruited out of high school, Fraliex was a five-year varsity starter and led Caldwell County to a 23-win season in 2006-07, including a school-record 15 consecutive wins. CCHS won the 7th District championship and advanced to the 2nd Region semifinals.
CCHS's all-time leading scorer, Matt accumulated 2941 points (22.1 ppg), 629 rebounds (4.7 rpg), 224 assists and 305 three-point field goals in 133 career games. He averaged 26.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game with 74 three-pointers in 26 games as a junior in 2005-2006 and set several school scoring records as a senior in 2006-07 when he averaged 32.3 points with a total of 892 points and 83 three-pointers in 27 games.
Fraliex' high school best was a school-record 49 points, and he scored 30 or more points in 33 career games, including a record 17 times during his senior year. He scored at least 20 points in each of the last 44 games of his high school career, also a school record.
Fraliex earned Kentucky All-State honors as a junior and senior and was an All-State second team selection by the Times Herald Leader and Louisville Courier-Journal. Following his senior season, Matt was named 2nd Region Player of the Year and was a McDonald's All-America nominee and played for the Kentucky All-Star team. He also was selected to the 2nd Region and 7th District All-Tournament teams and the region and district All-Academic teams.
Commenting on the addition of Fraliex to MCU's program, Bennett says,
"Matt is a great addition to the MCU family. He comes from a basketball family that puts Jesus Christ above all other things in their lives. Matt is an excellent student, and we know that his time at Murray State will benefit him when it comes time to hit the court this coming fall."
