Mayfield, KY - Mid-Continent University softball coach Christa Bakemeier has signed utility player Brittany Fitzpatrick from Lyon County High School in Eddyville, Kentucky, to a letter of intent to play for the Cougars beginning with the 2010-11 season. She is the daughter of Renate Putzek of Eddyville.
Fitzpatrick has played shortstop, third base, catcher, and in the outfield during her high school career, and hit .232 this season with one double and one triple and 11 RBI. She hit .292 with 3 doubles, 3 triples and 15 RBI as a junior in 2009. During her four-year career, she hit .244 and accumulated 63 hits in 258 at-bats with 8 doubles, 7 triples and 59 RBI.
Commenting on Fitzpatrick's signing, Bakemeier says, "I am extremely excited that we have some local talent joining our program. Brittany is an excellent student, a solid Christian young woman, and works very hard."
