MAYFIELD, Ky. - Mid-Continent University softball coach Christa Bakemeier has signed outfielder Lacee Underwood from Harrisburg (IL) High School and Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois, to a letter of intent to play for the Cougars beginning with the 2010-11 season. She is the daughter of David and Angi Underwood of Harrisburg, Illinois.
 
    Underwood played four seasons of varsity softball and three years of varsity basketball and volleyball for Harrisburg High School and graduated from high school in 2008. She then played two seasons of softball for Coach Mike Fitzgerald at Shawnee Community College. She hit .328 (19-58) with 3 doubles and 10 RBI as a freshman in 2008 and led Shawnee in batting average (.400; 48-120); hits, doubles (11) and RBI (17) as a sophomore in 2009. She finiahed at Shawnee with a 2-season average of .376, 67 hits, 14 doubles and 27 RBI.
 
     "I am excited that Lacee has signed with MCU," says Coach Bakemeier. "She adds her considerable defensive abilities to our outfield and will be a constant offensive threat as well."
