DAYTON, TN - Senior defender Keane Bennett (Jamaica), pictured on the right, scored the "Golden goal" in the last minute of the second overtime, giving Mid-Continent University (1-1-1) a 3-2 victory over Cedarville University from Ohio (2-1-0) in September 3 collegiate men's soccer action at Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee. The late heroics provided Coach David Oesch with his first coaching victory at Mid-Continent.

The teams battled through a scoreless first half before Mid-Continent grabbed a 2-0 lead with goals in the 56th minute and the 70th minute. MCU's first goal actually was scored by Cedarville which inadvertently knocked the ball into its own
net, and junior reserve midfielder Stephen Peters (Grenada), pictured on the left, scored his first goal of the season with an assist from sophomore reserve midfielder Mervyn Gonsalves (St. John's, Antigua), his first of the season.
Cedarville fought back with two goals in the last three minutes of regulation time. Reserve midfielder Tony Franco scored at 87:18 with an assist by forward Matt Niemiec, and Niemiec tied the match at 2-2 just over a minute later. Niemiec totaled 6 shots and 4 shots on goal in the contest. MCU outshot Cedarville, 12-8, in the busy second half.
MCU also outshot Cedarville, 6-4, in the overtime periods, but each side managed just one shot on goal in the extra time. Bennett won the match with MCU's only shot on goal in overtime, scoring his first goal of the season at 119:24, just 36 seconds before the end of the match, with sophomore Gilles Nziengui (Gabon/Lansing, MI/New Covenant Christian HS) assisting. Bennett and junior midfielder Mauricio DaSilva (Porto Alegre, Brazil) each attempted 6 shots for MCU.
