Freshman Nicki Dewitt scored 15 points with 3 three-pointers vs. CBU
(Memphis, Tennessee) - Christian Brothers University (2-0) led by as many as 12 in the first half and by as many as 24 in the second half enroute to a 69-48 victory over the Mid-Continent University (1-4) in Tuesday, Nov. 18 collegiate women's basketball action at Canale Arena, in Memphis, Tenn.
 
    MCU travels for games Friday, Nov. 21, at Baptist Bible College (5-3) in Springfield, Missouri, at 7:00, and Saturday, Nov. 22, for a rematch at Williams Baptist College (6-1) in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, at 3:00. Williams Baptist beat MCU, 72-50, Nov. 6, in Mid-Continent's first home game of the season.
 
     In the first half, MCU outscored CBU, 10-2, and tied the score at 21-21, with 8:08 left, but the Lady Bucs answered with a 14-4 run over the remainder of the first half and a 22-8 run in the first 13 minutes of the second half while building its lead to 57-33 with 7:06 left in the game. The Lady Cougars did not score a field goal for a span of 11 minutes while CBU put the game away.
 
    MCU shot just .327 (17-52) from the field and made 5 of 12 three-pointers and 9 of 16 free throws (.563), and committed 21 turnovers, 15 in the first half. Freshman reserve guard Nicki Dewitt (Louisville, KY/Atherton HS) totaled 15 points for MCU, 8 in the first half, with 3 three-pointers, and senior starting guard Brittany Butler (Carrollton, TX/Hebron HS) contributed 12 points, 8 in the first half, plus 5 rebounds. Junior guard Tyqea Butler (Louisville, KY/Waggener HS/College of St. Catherine) added 6 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists, and freshman forward Abbey McLeod (Kuttawa, KY/Lyon County HS) added 4 points and 6 rebounds.
 
    Christian Brothers guard Katie Hume came off the bench to lead CBU with 11 points and 3 three-pointers and 5 rebounds, all in the second half. Guards Tameka Wooten added 11 points and 4 rebounds, and Tanaeya Worden scored 8 points, all in the first half. Forward Sheena DeBose contributed 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots, and forward Crystal Shelton scored 8 points and had 5 rebounds. CBU shot .415 (27-65) for the game, made 6 of 21 three-pointers and 9 of 11 free throws, and committed 16 turnovers. The Lady Bucs stole the ball 11 times, and scored 24 points off MCU turnovers.
