Christa Franklin
Head Coach- 4th Season

The daughter of Charlie and Doreen Bakemeier of Glendale, Arizona, Christa Bakemeier is a May, 2008 graduate from Mid-Continent University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies.  She begins her second season as head softball coach at Mid-Continent in 2010-11, and also hosted the first MCU Softball Camp in July, 2010.

MCU posted records of 15-32-1 overall and 4-10 in TranSouth conference games during Bakemeier's first season and hosted the 2010 NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament at Cougar Field last May.

Christa was named head coach after the 2009 season, replacing Rocky Stinson, who resigned to become head softball coach at Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee.  Bakemeier had served as assistant volleyball coach and as assistant softball coach during the 2008-2009 school year.

Bakemeier transferred to Mid-Continent University from Glendale Community College (Arizona) in 2006, and pitched and played center field for Stinson for two seasons.  She was MCU's team captain in 2007, and won NAIA and NCCAA Scholar Athlete honors as well.  She also was Glendale CC's team captain during her sophomore season (2005) and played left and center fields for two seasons.

Prior to her college career, Bakemeier played volleyball, basketball, and softball for Ironwood High School in Glendale, Arizona, and was voted team captain and Most Valuable Player of her softball squad and also won Scholar Athlete honors.

Bakemeier took little time adjusting to Mid-Continent, serving as student government Vice President in her first year in Kentucky, and later was voted commuter representative.  As a senior in 2007-08, she was one of MCU's resident assistants.
