Christa Bakemeier
Assistant Coach
 
     The daughter of Charlie and Doreen Bakemeier of Glendale, Arizona, Christa Bakemeier is a May, 2008 graduate from Mid-Continent University and now holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies.  She desires to become a special education or high school teacher.  She returns to MCU for her second season as assistant volleyball and softball coach, having served during the 2008 fall season as the assistant volleyball coach and as assistant softball coach during the 2009 spring season under head coach Rocky Stinson.
 
     Bakemeier transferred to Mid-Continent University from Glendale Community College (Arizona) in 2006, and pitched and played center field for Stinson for two seasons.  She was MCU's team captain in 2006 and 2007 and won NAIA and NCCAA Scholar Athlete honors as well.  She also was Glendale CC's team captain during her sophomore season (2005) and played left and center fields for two seasons.
 
     Prior to her college career, Bakemeier played volleyball, basketball, and softball for Ironwood High School in Glendale, Arizona, and was voted team captain and Most Valuable Player of her softball squad and also won Scholar Athlete honors.
 
     Bakemeier took little time adjusting to Mid-Continent, serving as student government Vice President in her first year in Kentucky, and later was voted commuter representative.  As a senior last year, she was one of MCU's resident assistants.
