Shaun transferred to Mid-Continent University after two years at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. He prepped at Hickman County High School in Clinton, Kentucky, where he earned first team All-District honors as a senior, and also was an All-State academic selection. Off the field, Hobbs was active in FBLA, H-Club, the Science and Weightlifting clubs, and Future Farmers of America and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
