April played the 2007-08 basketball season for MCU and averaged 6.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game with 28 three-point field goals, 22 assists, and 13 steals in 23 games, including 15 starting assignments.  Carter also is a member of MCU's softball team and hit .217 with 5 doubles and 9 RBI in 36 games in 2008.  She also pitched 24-2/3 innings, striking out 10 and walking 9 with a record of 0-1.  

April transferred to MCU after playing two seasons at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois, where she averaged 9.6 points and 3.0 rebounds in 2006-07, playing alongside current teammate Brittany Butler.  She also contributed 35 assists, 19 steals, and 36 three-point field goals.

Off the court, Carter was a member of BETA Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes..
