MASON, Ohio - All season long, the Mid-Continent University baseball team has played well with their backs against the wall. Thursday afternoon was no exception to that rule.

The Cougars (27-36) set the program record for wins in a single season with their 26th and 27th wins of the year, a 2-0 win over California Baptist University (40-13) and a 9-3 victory over Bluefield College (32-29).

The Mid-Continent University Cougars (25-36) baseball team fell in their pool play opener to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles (40-23) by the score of 9-1. The Eagles hold the lead in Pool B with a 2-0 mark after day one, while the Cougars are in a three way tie for third in the pool at 0-1.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - Head Coach David Oesch of the Mid-Continent University men's soccer team is pleased to announce the signing of Sean Leeder of Orville, Ohio for the 2012 campaign. Leeder becomes the latest member of a recruiting class that now has players from four different states joining the Cougars for the fall season.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - The Mid-Continent University baseball team got a reprieve on Saturday night, despite falling in the NCCAA Mid-East Regional Championship game.

For just the second time in program history, the Cougars (25-35) are headed to the NCCAA Division I World Series. Their only prior trip came in 2006, when Mid-Continent finished fourth in the Tournament.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - The Mid-Continent University baseball team came within an eyelash of history on Friday morning. After tying the program record for wins in a single season and forcing a second NCCAA Mid-East Regional title game on Thursday, the Cougars took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning on Friday morning. For Mid-Continent, however, a fourth Regional Championship was not to be.

Bluefield College (31-27) scored twice in the seventh frame to claim the NCCAA Mid-East Regional title over Mid-Continent (25-35) by the slimmest of margins, 2-1.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - The Mid-Continent University baseball team could not have scripted a better scenario than what played out on Thursday afternoon in the 2012 NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament. The Cougars entered the day hoping to pick up two wins and only use two pitchers in the process. That is exactly what happened, though in a most unconventional way.

Mid-Continent (25-34) got a two-run blast from Richard Arias in the sixth inning of the first game of the day en route to a 3-2 win over Covenant College (24-20), and Hunter Burge threw a gem in the second contest of the day - a 6-2 win over Bluefield College (30-27) that forced a second championship game to be played on Friday.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - With their season on thel ine, the Mid-Continent University baseball team took to the field on Wednesday afternoon knowing that one more loss and their season would be over. The Mid-Continent offense and Tyler Hall on the mound saw to it that the season did not end on this day.

The Cougars (23-34) scored three times with two outs in the first inning, en route to building a 7-0 lead over Oakland City University (17-26) as the Cougars extended their 2012 campaign with a 7-3 win.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - For five innings, the Mid-Continent University baseball team had the Covenant College Scots on the ropes. But in the sixth, the complexion of the game changed.

Mid-Continent (22-34) saw a 3-1 lead turn into a 4-3 deficit in the frame, as Covenant (24-18) came from behind to take the win from Mid-Continent 5-3.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - The All-Region Team for the NCCAA Mid-East Region has been announced for the 2012 season, with four Mid-Continent Cougars represented on the team. The Cougars placed two pitchers, and two infielders on the squad. Hunter Burge and Tomas Rodriguez earned places on the pitching staff, with Cable McMinn earning the honor at First Base, and Richard Arias was named the All-Region Shortstop.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - The honors keep coming in for the Mid-Continent University baseball team. Three members of the Cougars have earned places on the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District baseball team for District Four in the College division. The teams are comprised of athletes who excel both on the field, and in the classroom. Honorees must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, must have a grade point average of 3.40 or better, and they must have contributed significantly to their teams' on-field success. Jordan Manney, Daniel Edwards, and Hunter Burge were the three Cougars to earn places on the team.

MAYFIELD, Ky. - The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District softball teams have been announced, and the Mid-Continent University squad is represented on the College Team for District Four. The teams are comprised of athletes who excel both on the field, and in the classroom. Honorees must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, must have a grade point average of 3.40 or better, and they must have contributed significantly to their teams' on-field success.

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Mid-Continent University softball team had an opportunity to win a second game in the TranSouth tournament for the first time in program history on Thursday evening. After opening the tournament with an upset victory of Martin Methodist College, the Cougars took on the Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. Unfortunately for the Cougars, they came up just short in the game, then saw their season end in a second contest.

JACKSON, Tenn. - After coming close twice during the regular season, the Mid-Continent University softball team broke through in the opening round of the TranSouth Tournament.

Mid-Continent (20-25) dropped two, one-run ballgames to Martin Methodist College during the regular season, but on Wednesday the Cougars upset the RedHawks (36-21) in the opening round of the 2012 TranSouth Softball Championships 7-3. The win was the 50th in head coach Christa Bakemeier's Mid-Continent career.

PULASKI, Tenn. - The 2012 TranSouth All-Conference teams have been released, and a trio of Mid-Continent players found their way onto the two squads. Molly Hargrove was named to the first team, with Bry Navarro and Anna Maziarka taking second team honors. Perhaps as impressive as anything, the three honorees make up Mid-Continent's entire sophomore class.
