Key Returning Players from 2010-11
 
  • Chris Ferguson, 6-9. 190, Jr., F, Oakland, CA/Royal Sunset HS (Hayward, CA)/Feather River Community College, CA. MCU: Played in 33 games and started 11 times as sophomore in 2009-10 and averaged 6.5 points and a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game including a school-record 26 boards vs. Indiana-Southeast, Nov. 24, 2009. Had 10 or more points in 11 games and 10 or more rebounds 7 times.  Community College: Averaged 9.6 points and 8.6 rebounds, shot .509 from the field, and recorded 28 assists, 49 blocked shots and 16 steals as freshman in 2008-09.
  • Matt Fraliex, 6-5. 190, So., G-F, Fredonia, KY/Caldwell County HS. Transfers from Murray State University with three years of college eligibility remaining. College: 2.6 points with 13 three-pointers, 23 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals in 25 games for Murray State in 2008-09. Redshirted in 2007-08. High School: Five-year varsity starter and led Caldwell County HS to a 23-win season in 2006-07, including a school-record 15 consecutive wins. CCHS won the 7th District championship and advanced to the 2nd Region semifinals. CCHS's all-time leading scorer with 2,941 points (22.1 ppg), 629 rebounds (4.7 rpg), 224 assists and 305 three-point field goals in 133 career games. Averaged 32.3 points with 83 three-pointers as a senior in 2006-07 and 26.0 points and 5.1 rebounds with 74 three-pointers as a junior in 2005-2006. Scored school-record 49 points in one game and had 30 or more points in 33 career games including a record 17 times during his senior year. Scored 20 or more points in each of last 44 games of his career, also a school record. Kentucky All-State as junior and senior and was All-State second team selection by the Times Herald Leader and Louisville Courier-Journal.  Following senior season, Fraliex was named 2nd Region Player of the Year and was a McDonald's All-America nominee and played for the Kentucky All-Star team. Also selected to 2nd Region and 7th District All-Tournament teams and the Region and District All-Academic teams.
  • Reggie Elkins, 5-9, 185, Fr., G, Brighton, TN/Brighton High School.  High School: Made District 13-3A All-Tournament team as a junior and All-District 13 team as a senior. Played at the United States Junior Nationals in Columbus, Ohio during summer of 2010.

  • Brian Reid, 6-8, 215, Sr., F, Raleigh, NC/Laurinburg Charter HS/Shelton State Community College (AL). MCU: Played in all 37 MCU games with 22 starts as a junior last season, and averaged 2.7 points and 2.4 rebounds with highs of 10 points vs. Blue Mountain and 7 rebounds vs. Trevecca Nazarene. Community College: Averaged 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds, shot .587 from the field, and posted 11 assists, 6 steals and 6 blocked shots in 30 games as sophomore for Shelton State Comm. College in 2008-09.


  • Lyle Rommelman, 6-0 160, Fr., G, Paducah, KY/Community Christian Academy.  High School: Averaged 18.5 points with a .420 field goal percentage in 25 games during his senior year at CCA. Ranked third in scoring in the region as a senior. Two-year starter was the senior leader and inspiration for his team.
  • Mark Vaughn, 6-3, 185, Fr., F, Milan, TN/Milan High School.  High School: Averaged 16.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game during senior year and earned team MVP and Best Rebounder honors and was named to the All-Western Tennessee, All-District, and All-District Tournament teams.
  • Brenton Butler, 6-11, 260, Jr., C, Prichard, AL/Blount High School/Alabama Southern Community College.  Community College: Butler played two seasons for Alabama Southern and totaled 268 points, 181 rebounds and 37 blocked shots and made 86 of 142 field goals attempts for a .606 percentage. As a sophomore in 2009-10, he averaged 6.7 points and 4.2 rebounds with 25 blocked shots and made 66 of 104 field goals (.635). He scored a season high of 16 points against Enterprise State and grabbed 9 rebounds vs. Jefferson Davis CC. High School: Butler was a McDonald's All-America nominee after his senior season at Blount High School where he averaged 8.6 points and 5.9 rebounds with 73 blocked shots and 44 offensive rebounds. Butler scored in double figures in points 13 times with a high of 21 vs. Davidson HS and grabbed 10 or more rebounds eight times with three 12-rebound games. Butler was an Alabama High School Athletics Association All-Star in 2007.
