Men's Soccer - Thu, Nov. 1, 2012

MAYFIELD, Ky. - For the second consecutive season, the Mid-Continent University men's soccer team has had a member named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team.

Keagan Bacchus, who was the Cougars' leading scorer on the season, has earned the honor for the 2012 season. He was named one of three forwards on the team for District Four of the College Division. The Award is a part of the Capital One Academic All-American Program, the only award program that factors both athletic performance and academic achievement into a national award.

Bacchus, a 6'1" junior forward from Pt. Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago, led the Mid-Continent offense with six goals on the year, and a total of 13 points. In addition, he has posted a 3.37 grade point average in the classroom. In order to be eligible for the award, which is presented by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA), an athlete must be a sophomore or higher academically, a starter or key reserve who has played in at least half of the team's games, and have at least a 3.30 GPA. Bacchus will now go into a pool for the Capital One Academic All-America Team with the winners from the other eight districts in the College Division at his position. The vote will take place nationally, and from that vote, three teams will be selected and announced on November 26 at 11 a.m. Central Time.
