MAYFIELD, Ky. - People around the world have enjoyed Harlem-style basketball shows for many years. On Feb. 1, one such show is coming to Paducah Tilghman High School's gymnasium.

The Harlem Ambassadors – internationally acclaimed for their unique brand of Harlem-style basketball – will be coming to play a team of Paducah area All-Stars coached by Mid-Continent University men's basketball coach Winston Bennett.

"It is a tremendous honor to be asked to be an honorary coach for such a prestigious event," said Bennett, a former star at the University of Kentucky. "It is a great honor to represent Mid-Continent University, as well as a tremendous opportunity to represent Jesus Christ to our community."

The event is being organized by Mason DeJarnett as a part of the Ambassadors' current tour. What sets the Ambassadors apart from other ‘Harlem-style" shows is their commitment to work with local non-profit and service organizations to use the shows as community fundraising events. This event is no exception, as the Ambassadors are working in conjunction with the Paducah Downtown Kiwanis to help raise funds for the local chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities, as well as the Paducah Day Nursery.

Tickets are available at any Paducah Bank location or at the door. The night of entertainment starts at 7 p.m.

For Bennett, the game will be a step away from the ordinary, as the game takes place the day between two games for his Mid-Continent men's basketball team in their TranSouth Athletic Conference Schedule, but Bennett has always enjoyed the Harlem style of basketball and he knows what kind of family entertainment it can be.

"I have always sat back with baited anticipation watching the characters, the skills, and the entertainment the "Harlem" brand provides," Bennett said. "The entertainment the group provides for families is unsurpassed."

MCU Athletic Director Kevin Imhoff said he's thrilled Bennett was asked to be the celebrity coach. "This is an excellent opportunity for Mid-Continent Athletics to connect with the larger Paducah community, Imhoff said. "We are in the business of keeping sports dreams alive for students at the collegiate level, and often times those dreams start when a young child sees a show like what they will see with the Harlem Ambassadors."
