Men's Soccer - Tue, Oct. 30, 2012
MAYFIELD, Ky. - While the 2012 season might have been a struggle for the Mid-Continent University men's soccer team on the field, the team has shined in the classroom. Mid-Continent led the way in the TranSouth Athletic Conference this season, notching six TranSouth Scholar Athletes, and two NAIA Scholars.
In order to be named a TranSouth Scholar Athlete, a player must be a
sophomore, junior, or senior academically, and must maintain a 3.0 grade
point average as of the beginning of the fall semester. The NAIA
criteria are a bit stricter, with each student needing to have reached
at least junior status academically, have spent at least one year at the
nominating institution, and have maintained a 3.5 GPA.
Mid-Continent placed six on the TranSouth Scholar Athlete list. Sophomore Adam Abdo, Juniors
Keagan Bacchus and
Jamison Imhoff, and seniors
Mervyn Hazelwood, Jonotas Polesello, and
Rafael Xavier all earned the TranSouth honors. Imhoff and Polesello also qualified as NAIA Scholar Athletes, making Mid-Continent the only TranSouth institution with more than one NAIA Scholar this season.
