Now a junior, Caleb came to Mid-Continent University in 2009, from Murphysboro, Illinois, where he graduated from Murphysboro High School in 2008. He then attended Southwestern Illinois College but did not play baseball and redshirted at MCU in 2009.
Mid-Continent (2009-10): Caleb pitched in 13 games and started 8 times for MCU as a sophomore in 2010, posting a 1-5 record with a 12.94 earned-run average. Luttrell allowed 81 hits, 69 runs, 58 earned, and 24 walks and struck out 21 hitters in 40-1/3 innings. Luttrell won his first start of the 2010 season against McKendree when he allowed 8 hits, 4 runs, 0 walks and struck out 6 in 6 innings of work on February 20. He also allowed just 2 runs, one earned, 8 hits and 2 walks and received no decision in a game MCU eventually won over Hannibal-LaGrange, Feb. 25.
