High School: was a four-year baseball letter-winner for Coach Brian Bowland at Reidland High School. He split time defensively between second and third bases and as a senior in 2008, he led Reidland in walks and tied for the team lead in sacrifice bunts and ranked second on the team defensively in assists and fielding percentage among infielders and third in doubles and fifth in plate appearances and RBI.
Off the field, Schroeder was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, DECA, BETA, and worked on the school's yearbook staff.
